Outside Flo's Diner
Set in the heart of Toronto’s most fashionable neighbourhood, Yorkville, Flo’s Diner offers just about everything — from soup to breakfast food to burgers and salads — in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Its kitchen and 50s-style design have been attracting clientele from all over Toronto and Canada for one of the most fulfilling dining experiences one could find in Canada. You’re sure to have your meal cooked with the freshest ingredients, and served with what could be the best service in town. Flo’s Diner also has two sister restaurants, “Byzantium” and “Cantine,” which have completely different atmospheres but similar diligence and a parallel willingness to serve.
Getting over the hurdle

Coke Ad in Flo's
Flo’s Diner bet on atmosphere in the first place. The first thing I noticed was a small Coca-Cola ad that seemed as if it came out of the 1940s, shining brightly under the retro lights of the checkered counter, which was lined with short silver stools. The walls were decorated with various decades-old ads, as well as posters for infamous New York radio station WNEW (which began in 1922). Opposite the counter, there were several red vinyl booths and a few tables that were already occupied by customers enjoying their brunch — plates with burgers, omelettes, and salads that all looked absolutely delicious. The main host then led me to a table that sat beside a large window with a view of Yorkville Avenue and the patio overlooking it, which the waiter later informed me was the main attraction at Flo’s and which is usually full, but was closed at the time due to severe weather conditions.

Flo's Eggs With Toast
The menu offers exactly what you would expect in such place: a variety of steaks, pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, and many, many others. My appetite settled on Flo’s Eggs Benedict, for $8.95. I placed my order with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice and a side of onion rings. Hardly 10 minutes after my order was made, the waiter returned with what looked like a mouth-watering plate and my juice. I would be exaggerating if I said that the food was magnificent; the eggs and bread weren’t as fresh as I would have liked them to be, but it was enjoyable. The service, however, was absolutely perfect: fast and very kind, making my visit to Flo’s Diner a nice experience. I would not recommend this diner to people looking for a quieter meal, since Flo’s is usually quite busy. But if you are looking for a nice fast food place and don’t want to end up in the nearest branch of some global fast food chain, Flo’s Diner is a great choice.
