For the health-conscious and/or eco-friendly, this spot is the perfect retreat. Located on Avenue Road right outside Bay station (in Yorkville), this café offers vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. (Who knew you could keep your New Year’s resolution without cutting out caffeine!) The berry muffins are divine — combined with their smooth dark French Roast you will be smiling from ear to ear. All coffee and tea is fair-trade, and the service is excellent. There is nearly always a seat available; a great go-to spot after work.
3. Aroma Café (Several Locations: Bloor and Bathurst, Yonge and Eglinton, North York)

By far the best latte in the city! This European coffee house chain has a few Toronto locations; there may not be one close to you, but if you’re willing to walk or take the subway you will not be disappointed! This place is always lively, whether booming with North York’s business executives and chic new moms or students and academics in the Annex. It combines a humble atmosphere with a fashion-conscious crowd. The chocolate croissants are straight out of a Parisian bakery and the frothy lattes will make any coffee critic smirk. Dress to impress.
