Society expects us to look like stars and have perfect bodies in fabulous shape whatever the odds. Nobody cares about the fact that most of us spend our days sitting at our computers, hardly even moving to get a sandwich. Nobody sees that exercising actually hurts, and that most people prefer sleeping or lying on the couch to torturing themselves with ridiculous sporting activities. Many people have no idea about how many so–called sporty people die of heart attack while jogging!
Getting over the hurdle
If you share these views, and if “The Importance of Being Idle” by Oasis is your personal anthem, but you’re increasingly tired of paying double the price for flight tickets or being unable to tie your shoe-laces without sitting down, this may be the right article for you. It will provide you with a few tips that could improve your situation, taking into consideration the congenital laziness that some of us inherited.
- Trick yourself. Think of activities you enjoy doing and actually move while doing them without being distracted. This could be anything — window shopping, walking to your favourite cafe across the street, or working in your garden. According to some experts, you can burn up to 40 calories just by laughing more — and that means more food without regrets for you.
- Get yourself a pet. Keeping a pet requires a great deal of energy – energy that you want to be spending! Walking your puppy in the park will help you relax and clear your head, and if you have to chase it around , you can end up working out more than you ever expected. It is also well known that pets can be great matchmakers!
- Small steps for you, big leaps for your shape. While they might seem inconvenient, there are little things you can do to help stay in shape. Park further from the supermarket than usual. Take the stairs. Get your coffee yourself instead of sending the secretary for it. Stand up and walk around while you talk on the phone. There are plenty of choices and each of them will bring you a bit closer to your ideal shape.
