Royal Agricultural Winter Fair
Don’t miss the world’s biggest agricultural fair, taking place at Toronto’s Exhibition Place, November 4th to 13th. Delight your kids by taking them to the petting zoo, and enjoy the musical show of The Monkey Bunch while having a bite from delicious home-made food vendors, or be amazed by the fair’s prestigious horse shows and competitions. Even the Olympic champion Eric Lamaze will show up, so don’t hesitate to join him!
Getting over the hurdle
Rendezvous with Madness Film Festival
Friday November 4th to Saturday November 12th, film fans will have a chance to deeply explore the world of mental illness and addiction as viewed by cinematography at the Workman Arts, 651 Dufferin Street and some other affiliated venues. Artist talks, industry events, and performances will accompany over 40 films that will be screened during the festival. The opening night gala featured Sisters & Brothers, a film by Carl Bessai.
The Oh So Beautiful Showcase
On November 9th, the Oh So Beautiful event will be held in support of Toronto’s independent musicians. The platform was created to alleviate the harsh conditions for emerging artists and it tries to create more opportunities for them. The concert will be held in honour of the soul singer Curtis Mayfield. Admission costs vary from $10 to $19 and the showcase will take place in the Ballroom of the Gladstone Hotel on Queen Street West.

Winter Woofstock
True dog lovers in Toronto would never skip this traditional celebration of people’s best friends. Woofstock features dog shows, shopping opportunities, contests (dog costume contest included!), and even lectures offering information for both present and future dog owners. The event is held in the Direct Energy Centre at Exhibition Place during the weekend of November 19th. Admission for kids and dogs is free.
Santa Claus Parade
Christmas will be knocking on the door during the annual Santa Claus Parade in downtown Toronto. Make your kids‘ eyes sparkle on November 20th by taking them to see the show. This year’s parade starts at the Christie Pits and ends at the St. Lawrence Market. Come early to catch the best places to observe the show. The whole event will also be broadcasted live on CTV and CP24. Also, don't forget to download their iPhone app!
The Canadian Aboriginal Festival
Visit the Better Living Centre at Exhibition Place to join the colourful festival honouring aboriginal culture. The biggest Aboriginal Arts event in North America will take place from November 17th to 20th. Be blown away by the Pow Wow dancers, find yourself a beautiful piece of handmade jewellery at the crafts market, or watch the lacrosse competition — all within the four days of the festival.

Cavalcade of Lights at Nathan Phillips Square
November 26th marks the beginning of the official Christmas celebrations. The 45-year-old Toronto tradition of tree lightning, accompanied by live musical performances, skating on the ice-rink on the square, and a spectacular fireworks show can’t be missed by any Torontonian. The memory of childhood happiness lures us all to the Cavalcade of Lights year after year.
